2004 — Henderson, Texas, emergency room nurse William Joseph Wolfe is arrested for attempting to murder his wife with an electrocuted bubble bath. William draws a candlelit bubble bath with soothing music on a radio with an extension cord, then appears to accidentally knock the radio into the bath while his wife is in it. She catches the radio in time, and will later discover that her husband has visited web sites that detail bathtub electrocutions and has taken out a life insurance policy on her for a considerable sum. William will face a charge of second-degree attempted murder and could serve up to 20 years in prison. Also this day, Georgia couple Melissa Davidson, 34, and husband Sean Davidson, 33, are arrested and charged with simple battery after violently arguing over the movie The Passion of Christ. They were arguing whether “God the Father” in the “Holy Trinity” was human or symbolic, when the fight turned violent and the pair called the police on each other. Police said Melissa had arm and face injuries and Sean had a stab wound on his hand and his shirt was torn off. Chief sheriff’s deputy Gene McDaniel is quoted saying “Really, it was kind of a pitiful thing, to go to a movie like that and fight about it. I think they missed the point.” And also this day the California state supreme court orders a halt to same-sex marriages in San Francisco.
