She's used to the finer things in life. She likes Art with a capital "A", and the older, the better. While you like that she expects elegance and beauty...you currently don't have the right budget. There is still hope.
Don't be fooled by the Disney-like prices when you walk in — that's the "suggested" donation, and we suggest that you distract your date's attention as you throw a dollar at the cashier for admittance.
If it's May through October, visit the Roof Top Garden to enjoy amazing views of the park and the city. Otherwise, you can impress your date by telling her what the placards next to the paintings say before she can read them herself! Suddenly, you're smart and cultured! Remember, there are more naked tits and ass in this place than Times Square in the 1970s. Once you and your date have gotten some good images in your mind, look for a more intimate setting in one of the emptier galleries — say Ancient Near Eastern art. Don't bother with the the very popular Temple of Dendur, and definitely stay away from the mood-killing Monets.
And if you're a little more adventurous, try spending the night. You can hide in the bathrooms until the cleaning crews leave (try not to make any noise!), and then the museum is yours to make a Newberry Medal of your own. |
